I had a dream that I was playing Undertale, but after I made it to Waterfall as frisk, the screen then cut over to Toriel’s perspective. Then, I began to play as Toriel in a similar manner to a Paper Mario Peach/Bowser post-chapter intermission. I began to walk through Snowdin Forest, trying to find frisk and progress the story. I had little luck completing the quest though, and all I could do was one shot monsters in what few encounters I did have, as most of Toriel’s act commands were iseless against monsters and her “ITEM” button was completely replaced with a “MAGIC” tab that was greyed out due to her having no MP at the moment. One more notable thing that I could do was as command respect from the people with my royal blood, and they would tell me more information than Frisk would have heard from them. I thought it was an interesting concept, but still kinda boring, until I then walked inside the house of Sans and Papyrus. Papyrus then greeted her saying “SANS, IS THIS THE LADY YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT?” Only for him to realize that Sans was gone, and then comically go into shock. Him and Toriel then started talking about something in text boxes that I couldn’t read, as the perspective then switched over to Sans. Sans said something like “another day, another hot dog. Time to go get my paycheck.” Before I then was able to play as Sans too. I figured the goal was to walk back to his house and talk to Toriel, so I began moving over there. I didn’t know any shortcuts or hidden walls for this chapter though, so I merely just had to contend with Sans’ slow walking speed. At the very least, like Toriel, he could instantly defuse encounters if he told the right kind of joke, or used his overpowered magical abilities. Making him stronger than Frisk overall, but not as versatile because he only had his hoodie and a “blue gem” as equipment. Anyway, once I made it to Snowdin Town as Sans, I walked into his house, only for the game to glitch upon talking to Toriel. Papyrus said a corrupted and broken message which said something similar to “SHE TAUGHT ME GOATS ARE PRETTY! MAYBE SHE CAN-,” before he started running a bunch of broken animations and Toriel started saying a bunch of gibberish text. Sans then turned on the TV walked towards the couch, and the cutscene began to end with a similar transition. I then saw the perspective return to Frisk as he lay wounded after Undyne destroyed the bridge in waterfall, and he was being spoken to by a purple colored human ghost within a pre-rendered cutscene—representing the soul of Perseverance giving him his energy & advice—as Frisk was beginning stir in his sleep. But before I could control him or advance the dialogue any further, my game crashed, causing me to then wake up in shock. I awoke with a fair bit of allergies, and with very dry eyes. Other than that, I am in an alright mood though.
Your dream presents a rich narrative filled with game mechanics and characters from Undertale, reflecting aspects of your own life and emotional state. Here’s a deeper interpretation of the various elements of your dream:
Playing as different characters (Frisk, Toriel, and Sans) signifies your attempt to navigate different aspects of yourself or your life situations. The shift in perspective from Frisk to Toriel and then to Sans hints at your desire to understand various viewpoints or roles in certain situations. Perhaps you are currently facing a dilemma and contemplating different approaches to solving it. Understanding others’ perspectives, especially those you consider protectors or mentors (like Toriel), can lead to personal growth.
You mentioned feeling bored with Toriel’s limited capabilities, suggesting a potential frustration you might experience in real life—maybe you feel stuck in a situation where your usual strengths aren’t helping you, reflecting a kind of powerlessness or limitation. Conversely, playing as Sans, who has more power but still feels limited due to slow movement, can symbolize a recognition that while you may have strength, your options for action can still feel constricted. It highlights the theme of balancing power with timing and decision-making.
The interaction with Papyrus and the humorous dialogue showcases the importance of relationships and how they can lighten your mood even in challenging times. This suggests you value humor and camaraderie with others but might feel disconnected in certain social situations. Papyrus’s reaction to Sans’ absence adds a layer of depth—perhaps you sense a disconnect or loss in a relationship in your waking life.
The glitching and broken communications symbolize a sense of confusion or miscommunication in your current life situation. This could represent anxieties over conversations or misunderstandings that you are struggling to resolve. It might also reflect the unpredictability of life and feelings of being overwhelmed.
The ending scene with Frisk laying wounded speaking with a ghost representing "Perseverance" indicates your underlying drive to keep pushing forward, despite challenges. This part of your dream serves as reassurance that even in times of difficulty, the strength to rise again is present within you. The “purple human ghost” could signify hope, reminding you of the importance of resilience as you embark on new challenges or phases in your life.
Waking up shocked from the dream implies a significant emotional response to what you experienced in the dream realm. Considering your allergies and dry eyes, this might suggest that your physical state mirrors some underlying stress or feelings of being overwhelmed, emphasizing the connection between your mind and body.
Overall, your dream reflects a journey of self-discovery, exploring different roles and struggles while also stressing the necessity of perseverance and understanding others. It indicates a rich inner life with challenges to face, but an inherent capability to navigate these as you seek clarity and resolution. The dream urges you to embrace your power, seek connections, and remain resilient against life's glitches.
